Welcome to Our Week in Photos. Our way of sharing our week and what we get up to with our family abroad and grandparents who like to keep up with our life and antics. This week we have been enjoying normal. Normal is good. The husband is working his way back to getting into a […]READ MORE
I LOVE roast potatoes. Crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle. But I am also very lazy and whilst I do make proper, peeled, boiled then roasted potatoes for special occasions, I mostly make them in a cheat way that satisfies the roast potato need but is way less effort. This cheat version makes […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. This is a very grainy photo because Daddy swan was getting pretty tetchy the closer I got to his babies, but we are really chuffed and impressed that the swans on our local pond have hatched 6 cygnets. That’s a big brood. We have […]READ MORE
It’s that time of year, almost the end of the academic year, for many, and for us, it’s a new challenge. The tween is facing her first proper set of school exams. She is coming to the end of year 7 and over the next two weeks has 10 exams in various subjects. The exams […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. Summer has vanished. The weather is miserable. It’s June. It’s not right. Have some roses. I have nothing else to say, unless someone wants to send me to a warm beach somewhere for a week?READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent a DVD to review and share about* We are BIG fans of How to Train Your Dragon here, and have faithfully read all the books and watched all the movies, ahem, more than once. So we were VERY excited when a new movie, continuing the story […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent an item to review* Father’s Day is on its way. We have been plotting and planning to treat the Husband (both our own Dads are abroad, so we won’t be seeing them in person, sadly) to breakfast in bed, and then a day trip to somewhere […]READ MORE
Welcome to Spotty’s Sunday. This is the gecko corner of our blog, shared by Matthew with a little help from his mum. Spotty is our leopard gecko who has come to live with us. He is currently almost 13 weeks old. Spotty loves to eat. I think it is his favourite thing to do. He […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. When you walk away from a plate of cupcakes, things may happen. Half a cupcake went into a cat, before I got back. This, is my life. Layla loves a Victoria sponge cupcake just as much as we do, apparently…READ MORE
Welcome to Our Week in Photos. Our way of sharing our week and what we get up to with our family abroad and grandparents who like to keep up with our life and antics. I haven’t taken many photos this week, mainly because we have been very busy and sometimes life just doesn’t need a […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
