*this is a review post, we were kindly sent an item to try, all opinions are our own* My kids are getting bigger now, and I worry less about making sure they are eating (in fact, in our house, the words “I am STARVING” seem to be something I hear more than not, these days, […]READ MORE
*This is a promotional featured post, written in collaboration with 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal contact lenses* I recently shared my story about being trialling multifocal contact lenses. It turns out that whilst I may be in denial, about my age, unfortunately my eyes are not. I have started to develop presbyopia. This means that even […]READ MORE
Welcome to our week in photos. This is our weekly catch up for both sets of grandparents who live abroad and don’t get to be as much a part of the daily madness of our lives as much as we and they would like. So we share here for them to get at least a […]READ MORE
Hungry Hippos was a childhood favourite game of mine, and the small boy was given the game, by my brother. He’s been asking for the game for ages. Let’s just say we are all a tad obssessed and there is a fairly heavy compettion for who wins the most games… What was a favourite childhood […]READ MORE
*this is a review post. We were kindly sent some items for the cats to give their opinion on* This is a post about cat food. We have two cats, and their food and what we feed them is important. Both cats would, if allowed eat human food, but as we all know, most human […]READ MORE
I think, in fact I know, that people believe that someone with mental health issues, dealing with something like anxiety, depression or other long term mental health diagnosis, are weak, and broken. I have had people say it to me. I have had people imply that, not so subtly. The way people react and treat […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
