*This is a review post. We have been working with Snoozzzy trying out their weighted sleep blankets* If you have followed our family at all you will know that sleep, going to sleep, and staying asleep, has been a bit of a battle and journey for us. Our small boy has struggled hard with sleep […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent items to review and share about* We are a bit excited. We are big Angry Birds fans, and THE ANGRY™ BIRDS MOVIE 2 is out now. We loved the first movie and we are looking forward to a cinema visit this week, to see what mishaps and […]READ MORE
*this is a review post, we were kindly treated to a visit to SeaLife London* We had a lot of fun visiting SeaLife London. It’s the perfect place to spend some time over the holidays, meeting some familiar sea creatures, and making some new friends. I am a huge fan of jellyfish and could spend […]READ MORE
Project 365, a photo a day, every day of the year. I love jellyfish, I find them fascinating. I could sit and stare at a tank of them all day. They are so serene and calm inducing. They are also cleverer than people think they are. Anyone else love them too? As long as they […]READ MORE
What made you “have anxiety?” I have always been a “more anxious” person. As far back as I can remember I know I had feelings of anxiety that seemed to be not normal. I used to worry about my family dying, I worried about getting sick, things on the news would make me terribly anxious. […]READ MORE
Project 365, a photo a day, every day of the year. When you are walking down the lane near the meadows and you find what I call brambles, but I think everyone else calls blackberries, waiting to be picked, and eaten, right there and then… We will be going back with a bucket later in […]READ MORE
They say that the sign of a good holiday is not wanting to come home. I think that is what we just had. To be honest, in April of this year, I didn’t know if we would even get a holiday. The husband was very ill, and it was kind of a thought I clung […]READ MORE
Project 365, a photo a day, every day of the year. Sliding back in after three weeks away to share this. No filters, no editing. The water really is that colour. It’s Lac Pavin, which is a volcanic crater lake that is still considered “active” in that there is evidence of thermal and some activity […]READ MORE
It’s common knowledge amongst my friends and family that I am a boring old fart, spoil sport, misery guts, party pooper. I will happily admit that, and own the title. What have I done to earn this infamy? I don’t play games. In fact, I hate them. Ok, I don’t hate games. There are a […]READ MORE
*this is a collaborative post* Breakfast cereal is a bit of a treat in our house, I am incredibly fussy about what we have for breakfast, and also about making sure the kids eat breakfast every day. Both of them can and often do make their own, but I make sure in the week, that […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
