Welcome to our week in photos. This is our weekly catch up for both sets of grandparents who live abroad and don’t get to be as much a part of the daily madness of our lives as much as we and they would like. So we share here for them to get at least a […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. I have no idea what flower or tree this is but it blooms in my neighbours garden every year and hangs over our wall and smells amazing. Spring is really here when these blossoms appear. If someone knows what it’s called please let me […]READ MORE
Welcome to the first in our series of guest posts sharing all about the world of homeschooling. Something that many more parents are starting to do, for reasons that work for them and their families. Today we have the lovely Sonia from My Mamma’s School sharing why they homeschooled here when living in the UK, […]READ MORE
Project 365 – a photo a day, every day of the year. *We were treated to tickets to Kidzania in exchange for a review* Just a perfect day. One of those rare days when we went out, did something fun and it all went well, no one cried, no one had a meltdown, everyone coped […]READ MORE
My mental health, is just that. It’s mine. It is my journey, my struggle. My job to get me fixed. It’s funny. Talking about mental health still taboo. Sharing what is going on in our heads is still frowned upon. Despite more prominence on social media, the tv, celebrities sharing their struggles, prominent experts talking […]READ MORE
Project 365 a photo a day, for every day of the year. The husband promised me something, this morning as we both lay awake coughing hard, from the bug we have picked up, from our tweenager who was incredibly poorly last week. His words were “we can’t do many more winters like this, we need […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. I was kindly sent some products to try* I often find that as a busy wife and working mum, that I am so busy making sure that everyone else’s needs are met, that mine get forgotten. Not intentionally, but they just slid to the bottom of my pile. Sometimes that […]READ MORE
Project 365 – a photo a day, every day of the year. She who is supposed to be on a special diet, but prefers human food and has a taste for blue cheese, and will happily eat Roquefort cheese if allowed (cheese really doesn’t agree with her, we don’t usually let her have it) Yes, […]READ MORE
I shared this past weekend that we were celebrating our eighteenth wedding anniversary. We had 24 hours alone, away from normal life, to mark that. We made it to a fairly big number. We have two years til we hit the big twenty. We plan to head to Las Vegas with the kids, to celebrate […]READ MORE
Project 365 – a photo a day, every day of the year. I love going up to the local pond near us and watching the birds and water fowl. It’s spring so there are baby ducks, goslings and cuteness abounds in the form of fluffy little creatures all learning to swim and keep up with […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
