Last week, we sadly lost our second hamster. Our other hamster died a couple of months ago, so we were all a bit upset when we realised Robin had gone to sleep and wouldn’t wake up. He had some health issues we were taking care of that we knew he wouldn’t get better from but […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly invited to review an event* AI: More than Human. It sounds like the title of a SciFi movie? It could be. But it is in fact, a fantastic event running at the Barbican in London, which we visited recently. I am a big of a fan of […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent some items to try, but all opinions are our own* There are jobs that need to be done around the home, that I know, I personally add to a to do list, then put off for as long as possible. Mainly because finding time to do […]READ MORE
Welcome to Spotty’s Sunday. This is the gecko corner of our blog, shared by Matthew with a little help from his mum. Spotty is our leopard gecko who has come to live with us. He is currently almost 16 weeks old. Spotty has moulted again. We got some photos of him, when he came out […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. I am the only person I know who takes photos of random cemeteries. I find them fascinating. This one, a sectioned off bit of a bigger one, looked very sad and neglected. Anyone else find places like this interesting?READ MORE
Welcome to Our Week in Photos. Our way of sharing our week and what we get up to with our family abroad and grandparents who like to keep up with our life and antics. This weekend, mum has escaped for the weekend. But before I did that, we had our usual busy week. My birthday […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. I have run away for the weekend. My lovely family have released me to go to see friends in Scotland for a day or two. This was my action shot, on the train, just before we reached Scotland itself. Not a bad passing view? […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent some beer to try* It can be a bit challenging when you don’t drink alcohol, but it seems that everyone else is enjoying a boozy drink at the end of the day, or at an event, or a party, or with a meal, or out in […]READ MORE
Anyone else struggling with endoftermitis? I love the word. It perfectly describes how we are all feeling, here in the Mad House of Cats & Babies. We are tired, all of us (well, I don’t know about the cats, but the human residents are) and it has been a long term, and the summer holidays […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. Layla will supervise me drawing up medicine for Jasper. As you know, he’s had two trips to the vet for treatment due to getting into fights, and has needed medication given to him at home. He’s a naughty but on the mend cat. Layla […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
