Welcome to Our Week in Photos. Our way of sharing our week and what we get up to with our family abroad and grandparents who like to keep up with our life and antics. It seems weird that a week ago we were saying goodbye to my Dad, flying back home to Bangkok. We are […]READ MORE
Work life balance? Before we went away, I had a rather pathetic undramatic realisation that mine is utterly, frankly, crap. I don’t have a work life balance. I don’t switch off. Being a blogger, or social media “influencer” (and I hate that word, it’s pretentious, and frankly stupid, but I can’t think of another word […]READ MORE
Unless you live under a rock, you won’t have failed to have notice that all over social media people are talking about Second Hand September which is #secondhandseptember across Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The principal behind it is: “Every week 11 million items of clothing end up in landfill. Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure […]READ MORE
*This post does contain Amazon Affiliate links, if you click and make a purchase I do make a small amount of revenue* I love reading, but don’t seem to be able to enjoy reading as much as I used to, probably because as a busy working mum and wife, I don’t have that much time. […]READ MORE
Back to school. For all of us. The summer break has ended. It’s been lovely, in many ways but also a little nostalgic for me as I realise my children are getting older. It has also been a tad stressful, and not that relaxing. More on that in another post. But they aren’t leaving me […]READ MORE
*This is a collaborative post with Hedrin that we hope will be helpful and not make you feel too itchy* Like us, and many other families, you may be heading back to school this week or even starting school or nursery. You will probably have a long list of things to think about and head […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. Kew Gardens. Looking very moody – it rained just after we took this photo, we had to seek shelter. The boy was seeing how many fish he could spot. Taken with my Nikon D3300. No editing or tweaking.READ MORE
September for me is the start of my “year” and I feel like it’s a new start for everyone with back to school and work after the summer break. I always feel like I need to start if off in a healthy fashion, to wind into Autumn and soup is a way I love to […]READ MORE
Welcome to Spotty’s Sunday. This is the gecko corner of our blog, shared by Matthew with a little help from his mum. Spotty is our leopard gecko who has come to live with us. He is currently almost 25 weeks old. One of my favourite things about Spotty is his eyes. They are amazing. His […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
