We don’t tend to make a huge thing out of Valentines Day. LSH is out tonight, I am out tomorrow night. We have a nice dinner planned for the weekend, instead! However, Big Girl did an afternoons crafting and painting at our local pottery painting place this week and produced a rather beautiful Valentines masterpiece […]READ MORE

So this is me… OK, it’s not me, it’s an avatar of me, I had fun playing and creating this on Doppelme So what? You are now asking. So this is me, a bit frumpy looking, trying to grow my hair out, because I would like it longer than the current cut, in my […]READ MORE
This week I am reviewing the YMCA at The Hawker Centre, Kingston’s new children’s play area, this is local to us, a ten minute bus ride away from where we live. This is a recently rebuilt area, which replaced their old play area, (which was pretty basic, but popular) and is called The Pod I […]READ MORE

I made these for our Mainly Music group this week, and was asked more than once, for the recipe, so I thought I would put it up on the blog. This recipe serves 32, which is double the original recipe (I was baking for a group of 30 or so) so if you want to, […]READ MORE

Ok, I know it’s not Friday, so technically I should not be ranting, but having just received a 3rd sales call today, on a number that is supposed to be “unlisted” and on the “do-not call” lists, I am feeling a little IRATE!! The last call went something like this: Caller: Hello, is that Karen? Me: […]READ MORE

I think? Or at least that is what my converter thingo on my BlackBerry told me last night, as I rather foolishly signed myself up for a 10km river run, in Richmond, in September of this year. I will be raising money for Myeloma UK, which is the charity I am fundraising for on my […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
