We were at the local summer fair, yesterday, with the children, and I was chatting to Big Girl, about what she needed to do, if she got lost, or couldn’t find us, in the busy crowds and stalls. We had a chat about her either finding the First Aid Stall and asking them for help, […]READ MORE
So LSH thinks this is a griffin, I think it is an eagle… I think it needs an appropriate caption? He looks pretty grumpy, whatever he is? Don’t forget to pop to Mammasaurus blog and see the other Sat Caps. Have a lovely weekend!READ MORE
Welcome to my Friday’s Rants from the Soap Box in my Living Room. A small space in the week where I can have a chunter about things that have made me twitch with annoyance or made me question if the world has gone mad or not…. I also linked up with MummyBarrow for her Ranty Friday. You can find […]READ MORE
Today, is my busiest day of the week. I work, running the parent/carer & toddler group, with my team, and I am there, from 930am until 1pm, having done a school run and dropped Small Boy off at his child-minder (he doesn’t enjoy the large, noisy and busy group, and finds it incredibly stressful, now we […]READ MORE
Want to serve some baked goods for a person with a dairy or gluten intolerance or allergy? Look no further… This is my favourite chocolate brownie recipe, with the added bonus of being dairy and gluten free, and you cannot tell when you eat them, that they are not made with wheat flour. LSH loves them, […]READ MORE
LSH and I went to Osterley House, in Hounslow, South West London, last Friday, for a grown up tea and some time together. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. I was particularly taken with the very delicate looking Chinese antiques in the house, and this hand made, over 400 years old, boat, with actual people inside, […]READ MORE
This blog post’s alternative title is “if you have a baby, don’t ever leave the house without a spare nappy.” Like, me you might live to regret that… One of the basic rules of parenting a baby or toddler still in nappies, is that if you are leaving the house, for a trip out, you […]READ MORE
LSH took this photo at the park last week, on a day of glorious sunshine. I wasn’t there, so have no idea what was being said, between these two as they played. Give me some ideas? Click on the linky, or visit the Mammasaurus blog to join in and see other Sat CapsREAD MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
