I know I am not the only person who loathes the mad rush in the morning to get children up, dressed, suitably fed, packed up and out the door to school in the morning. Having joined the ranks of working women again, I am also aware that 3 mornings a week, I won’t be coming […]READ MORE
It’s been an interesting few days, with Grandma and Grandpa departing. Small Boy doesn’t understand that they have gone far away, and keeps asking when they will be coming back, and then gets all sad when I tell him they have gone back to South Africa, which hurts my heart. He was just starting to […]READ MORE
This week, I got a bit of a fright and also had a minor panic attack. The fright was induced by having weighed myself using the scales in the local pharmacist for the past two weeks, which had given me the weight readings I kind of expected. When I went and bought a set of […]READ MORE
I cannot believe Big Girl goes back to school this week, and Small Boy starts nursery at the end of this month. I am stunned at how fast the summer holidays have been this year. What we’ve been up to this week: We had a lovely time at the local sandpit park, in Petersham, Small […]READ MORE
I have NO idea what was going on here, but it involved Grandma, and two small children. I am sure someone can come up with something suitable? Don’t forget to click and join at the Mammasaurus blog, use the linky below!READ MORE
Welcome to my Friday’s Rants from the Soap Box in my Living Room. A small space in the week where I can have a chunter about things that have made me twitch with annoyance or made me question if the world has gone mad or not…. I also linked up with MummyBarrow for her Ranty Friday. You […]READ MORE
When you are are having a VERY BAD DAY and you want bedtime to happen… Last week, we had a really bad day. I had a bad parenting day. We all seemed to have woken up in bad moods, and both the children, in their own ways, were not their usual selves. The boy had […]READ MORE
We live about 5 minutes walk away from Petersham Meadows. In the Spring and Summer, the National Trust grazes cows in the meadow. The children and I love to go and see them, and on this perfect summer morning, I took my first #getfitmummy solo 3 mile walk/slow jog since my ankle injury and had […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
