It’s been a really crazy week, with so much going on, work, school, meet the teacher meetings, violin lessons, steam cleaning everything in site (I look like an extra from Ghost Busters according to LSH) birthday parties, visits to the vet for certain feline members of the household, oh yes, and in case you hadn’t […]READ MORE
So, Sophie the Giraffe couldn’t take it any more one morning this week (and with the morning crazy of getting ready for school and out the door, I can’t say I didn’t feel the same at one point) and decided to take cover in Small Boy’s slipper…I am sure someone somewhere can Sat Cap this? […]READ MORE
Welcome to my Friday’s Rants from the Soap Box in my Living Room. A small space in the week where I can have a chunter about things that have made me twitch with annoyance or made me question if the world has gone mad or not…. I also linked up with MummyBarrow for her Ranty […]READ MORE
I was chatting to someone at the parent/toddler group I run, and I happened to mention that I wrote a blog, mostly about parenting and family life, and she smiled politely, and said “oh, are you another one of those Mummy bloggers, pretending life is perfect, putting us all to shame, and telling us all […]READ MORE
I love this age, he is learning so many new words, and is so expressive, and uses his hands a lot, just like me. I have two chatterboxes on my hands, I think they must take after me! 😉READ MORE
I was very excited to be invited to be a guest blogger at Wriggly Rascals, which is a fantastic site, created by Shona Motherwell. I must admit, I am usually a bit leery of parenting websites, and try and avoid them, as sometimes they can be places where a lot of judgment and criticism of other […]READ MORE
Is Monday, and I don’t know how I managed to land it all, on one day. I join The Oliver’s Mad House Magic Moment’s linky every week, but because Monday is so manic, and I work Tues-Thurs, I often don’t get to look at any of the other lovely blog posts in the link up […]READ MORE
This week has been interesting. I am slowly adjusting to being at work, and trying to juggle everything, in our lives, whilst attempting to maintain a healthy eating plan and add in some exercise. It’s a bit of a balancing act, and I am not sure if I have got it right yet. One marvellous thing […]READ MORE
Where did the sunshine go? All of a sudden, it’s raining, chilly and everything feels damp. Yuck. I have had to put the heating on, dig out my hot water bottle, and the cats have spent most of their time curled up in cosy balls in various warm spots. I wish I could do the […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
