*this is a review post. We were kindly sent an item to review and share about* If you read our blog, you know that the loves in my life are my cats, my kids, coffee and chocolate. In no particular order. I am very fortunate that the husband loves good coffee and takes serious pride […]READ MORE
*This is not a paid review post. We visited Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium as part of a birthday treat, and we loved it so much we decided to share about it* If you read our blog you will know we LOVE cats. It’s pretty obvious, we think. The tween had a birthday recently. As part […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent a book to read and share about* We are always on the look out for fun children’s books for both kids, and we have wide and eclectic tastes. My small son loves books he can relate to with characters that make him feel he is part […]READ MORE

I have adapted this recipe, it’s actually a cake recipe, but can be used for cupcakes or for a normal layered chocolate cake. mThis recipe makes about 24 cupcakes or enough for a normal sponge cake, if you prefer that way. I’ve also tweaked it so that it is dairy and gluten free, for our […]READ MORE
Welcome to our week in photos. This is our weekly catch up for both sets of grandparents who live abroad and don’t get to be as much a part of the daily madness of our lives as much as we and they would like. So we share here for them to get at least a […]READ MORE
So the tween and I have had a chat. It’s come to that point where my social media and the blog, have met her world. She has friends who have social media. One or two of their parents know I blog. One of her friends, somehow, came across one of my instagram photos, and realised […]READ MORE
Yup, that’s charcoal. In a drink. I drank that today. Charcoal is supposed to help your stomach deal with toxins, and allegedly is helpful after a stomach bug. I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it. It didn’t taste like BBQ fuel. This stomach bug and this winter? Meh, I am over it. The husband […]READ MORE
*this is a review post, we were kindly sent items to share about, all words are my own* Valentine’s Day is on it’s way, and you can’t miss the shops full of flowers, cards, and everywhere has ideas for what to get someone for Valentine’s Day. I am a pretty practical person, so for me, […]READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
