*This is a review post. We were kindly sent an item to review* Father’s Day is on its way. We have been plotting and planning to treat the Husband (both our own Dads are abroad, so we won’t be seeing them in person, sadly) to breakfast in bed, and then a day trip to somewhere […]READ MORE
Project 365, a photo a day. Tweens are mysterious creatures. They swing from being lovely and interesting to stroppy and toddler like. They keep us on our toes and parenting one is a somewhat bewildering experience. However they are useful, because if well trained they can be persuaded to manifest themselves into the kitchen when […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent a book to read and review* Bullying is a sensitive topic. You may have experienced being bullied either as a child or an adult, or you may be a parent who’s child/children have been bullied. Until it happens to you, it feels like something everyone talks […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent an item to review and share* Father’s Day is coming in the UK, and in many other parts of the world, and if you are like us, you might be working on treating the dad or dads in your life, or the person who is dad […]READ MORE

*I was sent products to try, all words are my own. Information and prices taken from source* I have to admit, having had oily skin for most of my teenage and then adult life, the idea of putting rich, oil based creams, or even pure oils on my face, was a horrifying one. […]READ MORE
I am going away in 3 weeks time. Leaving my crew for 2 nights and 2 days. It’s my birthday in three weeks time, and instead of gifts, I asked if I could have some time off. I tend to prefer minimum fuss for my birthday, and this year I asked if it would be […]READ MORE
*This is a review post. We were kindly sent some Benenox to try. All opinions are my own* Sleep. We all need it. We all need different amounts, depending on where we are at in life, and I am pretty sure most of us don’t feel like we get enough. I know I certainly don’t […]READ MORE
Project 365. A photo a day, every day of the year. This busy bee, captured at Kew Gardens today, caught my eye. Taken on an iPhone 8. No editing or filtering. I’d have got closer but he wouldn’t stay still long enough…READ MORE

Welcome to the Mad House. I originally started this blog, in a blur of sleep deprivation, to get my thoughts and feelings down somewhere, on parenting, second time round, with a baby that had major sleep issues (and not just normal ones) but it has grown and grown. We are now well into our fifth year at the Mad House and you will find blog posts on anything from gardening, to politics, with lots of ramblings on parenting, and also about living with food intolerances. I blog about cows milk and gluten free cooking too.
