Creative Kids – We love lego (and a give-away!)

Creative kids logo

Welcome to the first Creative Kids of 2015. We have lots to share over the next few months, and each month will be doing a crafty or creative give way, as part of our trying to keep things creative…

This week, it’s short and sweet. We want to talk about Lego! We LOVE Lego. Adults and children alike are enthralled and occupied in this house by Lego. Little Man was given a fair amount for Christmas but we all share in the fun of making things and creating objects. Sometimes we read and follow the instructions, sometimes we just wing it and make it up as we go. Both my children started out using Duplo blocks when they were toddlers, then graduated to proper Lego, and we have many sculptures and bits scattered around the house at the moment (I will say that Lego HURTS when you tread on it, in the middle of the night, in the dark, I think that’s a parental right of passage, or something?) Lego is amazing for encouraging imaginations both young and old, and helping with fine motor skills and general creativity, it’s also a great thing to keep little fingers and busy minds occupied and happy.

As you can see Little Man is very excited about his Lego acquisitions over Christmas, and I have spent all week helping him to construct and reconstruct his Lego Bat Cave. Big Girl likes to build mansions and is a stickler for following the instructions…

  2. looking at my sons bedroom you would think he already had all the lego in the world but he mainly likes to make helicopters and boats

  3. Little Girl so far plays the sets I played with when I was a kid πŸ˜€ Yeeey I did have Lego;) So she builds houses for a pirate and his crocodile.

  4. Hmmm…. probably a gazebo for the garden? Always wanted one of those and my daughter would think it was ‘mega cool’!!

  5. Asked my six year old Lego fanatic and he said he would love to build Super Mario Land in Lego πŸ™‚ xxx

  6. Lucas says – Everything is AWESOME, Everything is cool when your part of a team……… Sorry but LEGO is MEGA AWESOME!!! Me and Dad love building it and we have done loads of Star Wars stuff but my favourite time was when the Mother went out with the Godmothers and Bear my Godfather and Chich my Uncle came over and brought their lego and we built a whole town in the lounge!! They were a bit naughty and built a pub where apparently all the Lego figures had to go and have a drink. They spent a lot of time there but then they came and visited the castle that I had built and said it was the best castle they had ever seen made of lego πŸ™‚ It was an awesome afternoon πŸ™‚ Thanks for linking up to #minicreations

  7. a Castle, but we would have a moat and a private boat, a helipad on top with our own helicopter and a bright pink limo.

it would have to be a traditional old style castle too.

  8. We love Lego – and dens, so I think we would probably combine the two and make a massive Lego den with lots of different rooms in it.

  9. My 6-year old daughter is currently in the process of building a hotel, complete with lift and swimming pool. I’m sure she’d love to see a life-sized version of it!

  10. I am reliably informed that I would be required to make a model (hopefully non-working) of the hadron collider. Ever since a visit to the Science Museum exhibit last year, the boys have been somewhat fanatical about it.

  11. If I had all the lego in the world I would make a replica detailed model of the city where I live, street by street!

  12. My son says he wants to build bunk beds for his new room. Think dragging him bed shopping this weekend has taken its toll!

  13. My daughter and i would definitely build a big fantasy land. With a castle and a village, forest etc etc

  14. I would help my little boy build a Huge working train! He could then be the driver (under a little supervision maybe) πŸ˜€

  15. I have an old box of my son’s Lego. When my grandchildren come I find I am expected to be able to build everything from palaces to space rockets. I am not very good but thankfully they are usually satisfied with my efforts and increasingly as they have grown older able to have me as their not very able assistant! πŸ™‚

  16. Not just all the Lego but a lot more space is required as my son is intent on building a massive Lego city with vehicles, service buildings (police, fire, etc) shops.

  17. This is a fab wee giveaway! Massive Lego fans in our house, my boys would probably make a castle, while my girls would no doubt make something like a spaceship! They are addicted to anything spacey atm! Me & hubby end up sat alone building them little houses for their men, and we are usually still sat building long after the kids have tired and gone to play somewhere else! lol πŸ™‚

  18. My son would want to build a rollercoaster, my daughter would build a princess castle and i’d want to have a replica of Upton Park

  19. I’d love to build a big princess castle…don’t think my 5 year old twin boys would agree with me though!

Tell me what you think?
