Making mosaics. Emily’s review and a giveaway.

Spread the love

Emily is a bit crafty and creative and loves making things. She often will come up with some very creative ideas all on her own, but also likes things that she can do that produce fun and pretty results. Recently, she has had fun making mosaics with this rather lovely Melissa & Doug Peel & Press set. It’s a fun activity she can do without much help from me (sometimes that’s a good thing, given that I am not at all crafty or creative) and she was delighted with her creation.

Emily says “we recently learned about mosaics at school as part of a topic we were doing and I find them very interesting and beautiful. I think it would be hard work to make a big one, like the ones we found out about from ancient history.  I didn’t know that mosaics originally started in a place called  Mesopotamia thousands and thousands of years ago. One day my mum says she will take us to see some real ancient mosaics that have been found and can be seen by people. I really enjoyed making my own mosaic, although I think the one I made was probably much easier than a real one made long ago”

It’s great for encouraging creativity, and use of precision and colour matching skills. It would make a great gift or a perfect little kit for a rainy afternoon activity. It’s not messy or complicated either so it really is a win all round. Mum and daughter approved.

We have one kit to giveaway to our readers. If you would like to win, you need to comment where the art of mosaic first started, then you can enter by hitting the Rafflecopter link below and following the instructions.
