I read two books this week. What I am reading…?

So despite of, or perhaps because of being quarantined at home with a case of the pox, for small boy, I managed to read not one but two books this week and weekend. Nothing too heavy or brain stimulating (because frankly, living on very little sleep, being up with an itchy, grumpy little boy at night is too much for this tired old brain) but nice, light, fun books with happy endings and enough plot to keep me amused and entertained. Just what the doctor ordered (or would have, I am sure, if asked!)

My first book is  Love Muffin & Chai Latte by Anya Wilde

Love Muffin and Chai Latte follows the journey of Tabitha Lee Timmons as she deals with financial stress, loony relatives, some crooks, an unhappy bride to be, a grumpy old man and two heartbreakingly handsome men.

I found it funny, and heart warming, although I am not sure if it’s not a bit over stereotyped. I would love to hear what other readers thought of it?

My second book was The Rose Girls, by Victoria Connelly.

This book came up in my “books you might like” thing on my Kindle, so I thought I would give it a try.

Thirty-year-old Celeste Hamilton’s life is at a crossroads: she has just left a disastrous marriage, and her estranged mother has recently died, leaving the family’s rose business in jeopardy. Reluctantly, Celeste returns to the family home, a moated manor house in Suffolk, to help her two younger sisters sort out the estate and revive the business.

Having endured the fallout from her mother’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder when she was younger, Celeste is filled with self-doubt and crippling insecurities. But she must find the strength and courage to take charge and make some tough decisions to keep the old house from falling down around them.

It’s a really nice book, that keeps you wondering what will happen to the sisters, and it’s ending is not what I expected. It’s a good on the train, or plane read, and perfect for curling up with a hot cuppa and chocolate and relaxing. I will be reading more of the author’s books.

I am quite chuffed that I managed to finish two books in one week. Not bad, at all.

What are you reading?

  1. Ooh, I like the sound of the second one, and I’m taking a week off to be lazy next week so I’ve just ordered it on my Kindle to read by the pool – thanks 🙂 xx
