We were invited to a special treat, to see Santa Claus and the Night Before Christmas at Fairfield Halls in Croydon.
I’m not sure who was more excited, the children or me, when we set off. My nine year old is now at the stage where she gets that Santa has a little, ahem, help from her parents, but she goes along with all the fun, anticpation and surprises that come with Christmas and keeping the secret from her little brother who still believes in Santa and I love all things Christmassy so it was a perfect afternoon out for us.
It’s a lovely show, and perfect if your children are not quite ready for the length of a traditional Christmas pantomime but you want to take them to a show.
You’ve got Santa, his helpful elves, a talking bear called Muffin and Emily, the girl who isn’t quite sure she believes in Santa any more. Santa and his helpers have to convince her he’s real, and there’s a snow ball fight (we all got to throw snowballs at Santa to help him) and lots of audience participation and bubbles. The children are entertained and the adults all joined in too. (My own Emily was thrilled that there was someone with her name in the show)
The highlight of the show was snow falling on everyone and the children loved being able to go up on stage and meet the elves and Santa and get a little present. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend the show as a lovely family time, that’s fun and gets everyone in the mood for Christmas.
*We were treated to tickets for the show, but all opinions are our own*
