Welcome to my Friday’s Rants from the Soap Box in my Living Room. A small space in the week where I can have a chunter about things that have made me twitch with annoyance or made me question if the world has gone mad or not….
I also linked up with MummyBarrow for her Ranty Friday. You can find her blog and link up if you’d like to join in. A good rant can be therapeutic. Click on the link at the end to join in!

Please not that this is a TONGUE IN CHEEK post, and I am not trying to upset anyone, really….

Dear Single person, who works a 9-5 job, in a nice, clean office, and gets a lunch break, and to pee alone, who posts pictures on social media of your many night life exploits, and late nights, meals out, club visits, and busy life, then photos of yourself lying in bed at 11am on a Sunday morning…

PLEASE DON’T TELL ME HOW EXHAUSTED YOU ARE, and that I have no idea how tiring it is to be you, because I “only work a few hours a week” and “your kids are in school” because I may slap you silly the next time you utter this at me.

Says the mother of two, who has probably only had 3 or 4 hours of sleep per night in the last two weeks, whilst dealing with sick children, and a sick spouse, who has home to keep clean and tidy, (as opposed to one room in a flat share, where you have a cleaning lady, apparently) who does volunteer work, who helps in her kids school, who does 2-3 school runs a day, looks after a friends child for a few hours a week, who hasn’t had a lie in til 11am since before she was pregnant 8 YEARS AGO and who may only work 16 hours a week, but that’s on top of everything else, and who runs around a lot when she is working, serving a whole community of families.

OK, so I was young and single once, and I do remember being very tired, from nights out and working jolly hard, and I am not saying that I own the rights to be tired, or that parents should get special treatment for being tired, but really, it probably pays to think, before you spout forth how tired you are, particularly when talking to a haggard, sleep deprived, wearing yoga pants because my child spat her medication all over my nicer clothes at 7am this morning, me! We all get tired, and my parenting tiredness, is not the same as being single and working longer hours and partying hard, but please don’t tell me life is easy for me, and I have a cushy thing going!

That’s my rant for this week. Please don’t be offended, if you are young, single and exhausted from your busy social and work life, I really do love all my single friends, (this was not a friend, but someone I have only recently been introduced to, my friends know better 😉 ) but I had a very tiring week, and to be told the above, I am afraid set me off, plus my Tassimo machine was out of commission, so I was running on low coffee reserves, so they really were treading dangerously.

Don’t forget to link up with Mummy Barrow. Have a great weekend!

THIS is my life. I am so sick of walking in to work (the only one with children) and listening to them harp on about how tired they are because they work ONE extra day than me.
I work 30 hours a week, have been dealing with my MIL’s death, a partner who is basically out of commission, a toddler with an ear infection who refuses to sleep before 2am whilst running a home, cleaning, cooking and shopping.
And they’re more tired than I am because they work 7.5hrs more than me and spend their evenings going out with friends and family.

Oh I could go on forever. Totally seemed to hijack your post then. I couldn’t agree more and very well said!

I rage at celebs that check into rehab with exhaustion. Celebs with no kids that have no idea.

I wish I had the time to be checked in with exhaustion!!!
