So Big Girl went back to school this week, and seems to be settling in, I think. She is a little anxious because one of her new teachers (there is a job share in this current year 2 class) is known for being “shouty” and it’s common knowledge in the school and amongst parents. I have tried to ease her fears by saying things like “well, sometimes it’s hard to be heard, when a class is noisy, so maybe she has to raise her voice to get you to be quiet” but today she was a bit forlorn when she came home, because she says the teacher is very shouty all the time. I will be keeping an eye on this, and will be investigating and speaking to someone if it continues to cause her stress. I do get that teaching is hard work, I hold teachers in high esteem, it’s a tough job and some of us parents are just as hard to manage as the children in the classrooms, and I generally try not to be one of those, but if the teacher has a problem with shouting, and cannot manage a class without raising her voice all the time, then to me, there is a problem that needs dealing with.
On that note, I am off to do this.
Because next year, my Small Boy, will be starting reception, and to be honest, I think I will cry as I fill the forms out. He seems so little, and still my baby, but next year will come fast, and before I know it, he will be going to school too. I am off to cry into my herbal tea (no hot chocolate for me, on my diet) and negotiate the school applications website.
I’ve linked up with Sticky Fingers, for her Gallery post. This week is is “back to school”.
